So, to all the newbies who have no idea about this, alpha meditation is a effective relaxation technique and it’s the most popular meditation technique which is used to re-program the subconscious mind. Using binaural beats to reach the alpha state is also popular.
Binaural beats are certain waves which induce your mind to go into a calm state or an induced trance.
Now, what’s so special about alpha meditation?
- There are a number of benefits of alpha waves. The most obvious are that you become calmer and more relaxed. It has also many effects on the body. For example, it slows down the heart rate, which can be effective against heart problems, the body finds more time to regenerate and it even has a very positive effect on learning speed and memorization.
- Alpha meditation is a bridge between your conscious and subconscious mind.
What are alpha waves?
During the day, our brain waves mostly oscillate between the beta and the alpha state.
Alpha waves can be seen as the “relaxing waves”. Besides being quite relaxing, they also have an extremely important role to play in the human mind. They work as a bridge between the subconscious part of the mind (theta waves) and the conscious part of the mind (beta waves).
Alpha waves typically occur, when someone is lying on his couch with closed eyes and simply takes some time for him or her. They also occur in early stages of meditation. Alpha waves can also be induced or stimulated to be produced more frequently and easily with alpha binaural beats.
Alpha meditation is one of many meditation techniques, which helps to calm the mind.
Alpha state is where your brain waves are similar to the ones when you are sleeping or ideally in a dream.
Alpha meditation is very powerful method to reprogram your subconscious mind.
Easy guide to enter the alpha state:
1.Sit at a comfortable place where there are minimum to no distractions.
2.Close your eyes and start counting in reverse order from 100 to 0. You can repeat this for a week and then reduce the counting from 50 to 0 and so on. The point is that when you start you won’t have high concentration and it will take much time to reach the alpha state, as you progress, you will need much lesser time to reach the alpha state.
3.With each count inhale and exhale deeply. observe the breath.(this maybe difficult at first, but whenever you catch your mind wandering ,bring the focus back to your breath.Just focus on your breath(maybe it’s cliche, but this helps). It doesn’t matter what thoughts come and leave your head, do just that. Let it come and go. Don’t attach any emotions to the thought.
4. By this time ,you are in the alpha state of mind.(while there is no certain way to say your’e at alpha ,you can feel circles of energy ,enjoy the moment of serenity).
5.During this time, your subconscious is very receptive to any new thoughts. You can recite your own positive affirmations to yourself. Be careful of your words. Inflict as much as positivity in them, fill your subconscious of positive thoughts.
The best time to alpha meditate is when you are just awake from sleep in the morning or when you are going to sleep. These are the times, you are most likely to be relaxed.
There is no particular sign to particularly say you are at alpha, but you should be feeling circles of energy and there will be serenity and calmness round you.Enjoy this moment of bliss. When you are getting started, you might not realize this, but don’t lose hope, continue to practice , you will feel the change.
